For the first time in 9 years, Roger Federer of Switzerland is not going to participate in the US Open Semi finals. He was beaten by Tomas Berdych, of the Czech Republic 7-6, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in a quarterfinal match on Wednesday at Flushing Meadows.
Federer was not really himself during the match. He was only able to muster his best shots a few times, the top-seeded Federer was obviously stunned by Tomas who was seeded No 6. Berdych never had been past the fourth round at the U.S. Open and was coming off first-round losses at Wimbledon and the London Olympics. Berdych will play Olympic champion, Andy Murray in Saturday's semifinals.
Incidentally the US Open is the last Grand slam of the year. Better luck next time Federer!!!
